It was a lively celebration of creativity, digital safety, and community at OPay’s Lagos headquarters on Thursday, September 11, 2025, as the fintech giant hosted the first Grand Prize Giveaway of the My OPay Security Vote Challenge.
The event featured top Nigerian creators such as Veekee James, Folagade Banks, and Taaooma, along with media partners, campaign winners, and OPay executives.
The biggest moment of the day was the announcement of the N1 million Grand Prize Champions—participants whose content gained the most traction across Instagram, TikTok, X, and Facebook. The milestone underscores OPay’s continued effort to equip users with the tools and knowledge to transact safely in the digital space.
TikTok sensation Udeng Bennet Etudo, one of the winners, shared:“When I entered, I didn’t imagine I’d win. Watching my video go viral and then getting the prize is surreal. Truly, OPay dey pay ooo.”
Instagram winner Akindele Boluwatife added:“I won during the second week and later helped about 15 others create their videos. Four of them also became winners! It’s amazing to see OPay stay true to its promises.”
Speaking at the event, Sunmola Oluwaseun Imade, OPay’s Enterprise Marketing Manager, emphasized:“Our mission has always been to make financial services inclusive through technology, while putting users first. The seven security features were built with this in mind, and this campaign allowed users to vote for their favorites while learning how to protect their money. We’re not just rewarding creativity—we’re building a safer digital ecosystem for millions of Nigerians.”
Launched in August 2025, the #MyOPaySecurityVoteChallenge invites Nigerians to showcase, through short videos, how OPay’s seven in-app security features—Scam Alert, Night Guard, Large Transaction Shield, Online Subscription Control, USSD Lock, Large Transaction Double Check, and Emergency Lock—help protect their funds.
Since its launch, thousands have participated, sparking conversations on social media and within local communities. With over N10 million in prizes and exclusive OPay merchandise, more than 2,000 Nigerians have already been rewarded, making it one of the country’s largest digital safety awareness campaigns this year.
With the first grand prize now awarded, OPay is looking ahead to the next phase, giving even more Nigerians the opportunity to win while strengthening their digital safety practices.
