Dangote Cement has officially inaugurated a new cement plant in Attingué, Côte d’Ivoire — a 100 billion CFA francs investment that adds another milestone to its African footprint. Located about 30 km from Abidjan, the plant sits on a 50-hectare site and has an annual production capacity of 3 million metric tonnes, marking it as one of Dangote’s largest facilities outside of Nigeria.
The group’s Managing Director in Côte d’Ivoire, Serge Gbotta, described the facility not just as an industrial asset, but as a statement of confidence in the country’s future. He emphasized that the locally produced, high-quality cement will be offered at competitive prices, aiming to reduce the country’s dependence on imports and strengthen the domestic construction industry.
With this addition, Côte d’Ivoire becomes the 11th African nation to host a Dangote Cement production plant, contributing to the group’s continental capacity of 55 million tonnes yearly. The Attingué plant is expected to generate over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs, benefiting youth and supporting local SMEs across sectors such as transport, construction, retail, and supply chains.
In parallel, Dangote Cement will roll out training programs via its Dangote Academy to build local technical capacity. The company also promises support mechanisms—such as commercial assistance and credit options—to uplift small retailers. Community development initiatives around the plant include road works, clean water projects, and bolstering health centers in collaboration with NGOs and local governments.
According to Stéphane Tchimou, Commercial Director of Dangote Cement in Côte d’Ivoire, the plant delivers reliable cement solutions for masons and contractors nationwide. He assured that the company’s expanded distribution network would make the product accessible across all regions while supporting value chain participants. Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, framed the project as part of a broader mission: “Africa is full of opportunities. Our mission is to tell a new story — one of innovation, production, and progress for future generations.”
The Attingué facility will manufacture multiple cement grades—CPJ 32.5R for masonry works, CPJ 42.5N for buildings, and CPA 52.5 for large-scale structural projects. Its cutting-edge design positions Côte d’Ivoire not only to meet its domestic demand but to emerge as a regional export hub.
