Dangote Industries has entered into a strategic partnership with Honeywell to enhance its refinery capabilities, aiming to expand production to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028. This development positions the Dangote Refinery as a leading hub in global petroleum processing. Honeywell will provide advanced catalysts, equipment, and technical support, enabling the refinery to process a wider variety of crude grades.
Currently operating at 650,000 barrels per day, the Dangote Refinery is one of the world’s largest single-train facilities. The expansion includes adding another 750,000-bpd single-train line, which will allow the refinery to process nearly all of Nigeria’s crude production. This growth is expected to have a substantial impact on the country’s energy sector and foreign exchange earnings.
The partnership comes as Honeywell undergoes corporate restructuring, enhancing its role in global energy technology solutions. In support of the expansion, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company has committed to supplying crude oil in local currency, strengthening domestic refinery operations and stabilizing pump prices.
